THE JD4X OVERVIEW
.........................................................................................
JAVA DESKTOP FOR X WINDOW

JD4X is build to control the native desktop system and JVM's that run on the JD4X desktop. It will allow Java Jar and class files to be executed like a native application. On top of its Java orientated system, it will also support all the existing native applications. It will come with a default Windowing Manager that provides all the features of a desktop. Java users are then empowered to write their own Java desktops, applications, windowing managers, extend the default Windowing Manager implemented by the JD4X project team or simply enjoy a completely Java enabled desktop.

JD4X targets to build an entire Linux distribution customizable in Java. It will allow Java programmers to redesign their existing desktop in pure Java. Which means that they can customize their desktop to the way they want it, making it a truely personal desktop. The facilities build into JD4X allows the building of desktop backgrounds, desktop pagers, workspace support, desktop task bar and anything creative that the programmer can think of. There are no limits to what the Java programmer can do on the JD4X system.

JD4X is not an application desktop existing in a platform frame but it is meant to be the actual desktop itself like Gnome and KDE with a totally Java component based desktop. With JD4X, the Java user and programmer can do anything on the native desktop without having to limit their abilities to the Java platform that they have. Unlike most Java enabled desktop, JD4X does not depend on the native windowing system because it is the windowing system itself.
